Gilgamesh

Introduction

Gilgamesh is a third-person hack' and 'slash, action and adventure game, based on the poem; epic of Gilgamesh. Utilizing the Unity engine, players are thrust into the mythical and exotic world of Ancient Mesopotamia, where they play as the heroic warrior-king, Gilgamesh. This quest level focuses on his quest against the demon Humbaba. The game can only be played on PC as of now.

Description

The player begins with Gilgamesh and his companion/friend Enkidu at the edge of a forest. Your companion speeds off, pushing you to go after him, whilst also your character makes a remark about Enkidu's excitement. Then, you find your path blocked by some obstacles, so you'll need to remove these obstacles using various methods before proceeding forward. Once completed, you find yourself in a clearing where you'll first encounter one of the first classes of enemies of the game. Here you'll be introduced to the basics of combat. Once completed, you'll face a few of the same enemies before you can proceed to the next part of the level. 

The next part of the level features you continue your pursuit of your companion. Here you'll not only clear out more obstacles but also be introduced to some sets of puzzles that you'll need to solve and clear to advance. At the last puzzle of this part of the level, you'll encounter a new enemy type. This enemy will be a bit more challenging to fight and will require a careful approach to defeating it. Once defeated, you'll then be able to move on.

Before the coming boss fight, you'll continue to traverse the path till finally, you reached the boss fight itself - your opponent being Humbaba; the demon himself. Here your companion joins up with you before you proceed to the last fight of the level. Here at this point in the game, you can interact and purchase upgrades and new abilities for your character. You can choose to buy yourself some upgrades, however, you can choose to fight Humbaba without these upgrades. This would make the fight more challenging for yourself and this act rewards players who are bold enough to do it with both an award and the option of changing game difficulty.

The fight with Humbaba will test what you have learned from the start of the level up till now. The fight is divided into two stages. In the first half, you'll fight Humbaba, who is fighting you with a sword and shield. You're required to break his sword and his shield before you can get to the next half of the fight. Once broken, Humbaba will become more aggressive in his attacks and will become faster.

• Various weapons: A variety of weapons are available at Gilagmesh's disposal and use.
• Reactive environment: obstacles will react to what elements are present. wooden obstacles can be burnt down, enemies electrocuted by lightning attacks take more damage.
• Exotic opponents: Enemies of this game are derived from Mesopotamian mythology. Each has its unique strengths and weaknesses, providing ways of defeating them.
• Puzzles: There are various puzzles within this game for the player to solve.
• Abilities: Players can purchase and unlock abilities for the Character. such abilities include Lightning, Fire and Water.
